Clay By The Bay is thrilled to be hosting Shiyana Mahendra (@erralajean) for our MAY 2022 workshop artist.

100% of the registration proceeds will be donated DIRECTLY to the artist, to support the ever growing community of talent we strive to nurture

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Shiyana Erra Lajean Mahendra is a ceramic artist, currently residing in Buffalo, New York. She first stumbled upon clay in 2014, when she took an intro course while attending Eastern Kentucky University. She graduated with a design degree and despite friends and family's advice, opened an online shop to sell ceramics. After 5 years successfully selling her pottery worldwide, she took a hiatus to express herself through other artforms. Particularly Inspired by her love of tattoos, she began teaching herself how to create flash art. When she returned to pottery in 2019, she combined her knowledge of clay, design, and tattoos into one expression. .

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: In this workshop we will use methods inspired from the tattooing world to achieve clean, bold designs on the vessel. Students will be assisted in choosing or creating their unique design. They will then learn how to turn their unique design into a clean, reusable stencil. Shiyana will also demo throwing a vessel, stencil application and underglaze techniques.

WORKSHOP MATERIALS REQUIRED: TBA

WORKSHOP TIME & LOCATION: Friday night will be an Artist Talk from 7-9pm where everyone in the community is invited to meet & greet the artist and hear more about their craft!

Saturday & Sunday from 11am-3pm you will have a reserved seat to learn from the artist and work along side them to expand your ceramic skillset!  Registration will be for BOTH events, and a lunch break will be included.

All activities will be hosted at Clay By The Bay's facilities (1618 Pacific Ave, San Francisco, 94109)

We can't wait for you to join us!
