Clay By The Bay is thrilled to be hosting Isabela Munoz (@munisa_ceramica) for our MARCH 2022 workshop artist.
100% of the registration proceeds will be donated DIRECTLY to the artist, to support the ever growing community of talent we strive to nurture
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Isabela Muñoz is a Los Angeles based Mexican ceramic artist who took her first class in 2018 at a community pottery studio. She traveled to México to get more knowledge on the material and fell in love with it. After being a cake decorator for X years, she added her knowledge with sugar making flowers and piping bags into the clay world and started making tropical inspired ceramics with floral accents. Inspired by her culture she hopes to bring color and life to the forms that we already know..
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: In this workshop you will learn how to make a Mexican folk art “Tree of life” with a modern twist. The tree of life is considered a fine pottery sculpture that is originally from Metepec, Mexico. Using wire, clay and underglaze, you will learn how to make a standing sculpture decorated with small colorful figures and floral accents. Techniques will include slab, coil and wire to attach all the little elements that we will sculpt. You will also learn how to use underglaze and get those vibrant colors that the tree of life is so well known for.
WORKSHOP MATERIALS REQUIRED: TBA
WORKSHOP TIME & LOCATION: Friday night will be an Artist Talk from 7-9pm where everyone in the community is invited to meet & greet the artist and hear more about their craft!
