Clay By The Bay is thrilled to be hosting Diana Fayt (@dianafaty) for our JANUARY 2023 workshop artist.

100% of the registration proceeds will be donated DIRECTLY to the artist, to support the ever growing community of talent we strive to nurture

Diana Fayt is a ceramist, illustrator, and teacher. Her ceramic pieces are part folklore and part personal narrative, documenting both real and imagined stories. Diana’s work can be found in a myriad of public and private art collections both in the United States and abroad. She has been featured on the cover of Ceramics Monthly as well as in numerous international and American Publications, such as The Journal of Australian Ceramics, American Craft, Domino, and Sunset Magazine. Her roster of clients include Heath Ceramics, Anthropologie and Terrain. Diana has taught workshops at Arrowmont School of Crafts, Santa Fe Clay, Metchosin School Of The Arts, Sierra Nevada College, The Potters Studio, Clay Gulgong as well as pioneering early online ceramics education with her self-created teaching platform, The Clayer. A graduate of California College of the Arts, Diana currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon with her partner and two pups.

During this workshop Diana will demonstrate how to make and use newsprint transfers,
reusable stencils and teach you her signature surface etching and finishing techniques. During the workshop she will share how she combines all these surface techniques, together, to create rich, dynamic surfaces. You will come away from the workshop having learned multiple surface techniques that you will be able to use individually or together in multiple ways.

WORKSHOP TIME & LOCATION: Friday night will be an Artist Talk from 7-9pm where everyone in the community is invited to meet & greet the artist and hear more about their craft!

Saturday & Sunday from 11am-3pm you will have a reserved seat to learn from the artist and work along side them to expand your ceramic skillset!  Registration will be for BOTH events, and a lunch break will be included.

All activities will be hosted at Clay By The Bay's facilities (1618 Pacific Ave, San Francisco, 94109)

We can't wait for you to join us!

I’ve now taken a few classes at Clay By The Bay, all with different instructors - all have been wonderful experiences. It’s fun to see how different people teach the same concepts and find what clicks for you

I love the studio! I use it as often as I can to practice and create! As a student - you get access to it every day of the week! I’m so happy that I found this place and discovered this hobby of mine ☺️

Can't recommend this studio enough, and I'd definitely consider getting a membership here in the future.
