During this two day workshop Diana will cover how to use multiple techniques to create rich and graphically dynamic surfaces. Diana will show how she uses stencil resists to create negative and positive images. She will share how she creates reusable templates from her original drawings, to use for image placement and as a composition tool as well as her signature etching technique focusing on how to bring expressive line-work to your clay surfaces. We will explore using slips, underglazes, stains and glaze to create rich, painterly, layered effects that are both visually luscious and tactile to the touch.

Diana Fayt was born the daughter of Hungarian immigrants and grew up in Northern California. When she began her travels around the globe, she collected trinkets and stories from each new place she ventured. These treasures make up the palette from which she creates her body of work, each piece a travelogue of the human spirit, carved out of the earth to be viewed through the unique lenses of each observer’s personal history. Diana's work can be found in myriad of public and private art collections both in the United States and abroad. She has been featured on the cover of Ceramics Monthly as well as in numerous International and American Publications, such as, Journal of Australian Ceramics, American Craft and Sunset Magazine. Her roster of clients include Heath Ceramics, Anthropologie and Terrain. When she is not working in her studio, Diana can be found teaching technique and inspiring creativity in workshops around the world at destinations such as, Clay Push Festival, Australia, Santa Fe Clay, Arrowmont School of Crafts and Metchosin School of the Arts and via her self-created online e-courses. A graduate of the California College of the Arts, Diana currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon with her partner and pup, Louie.
